You have a point, but we really do need to be able to maintain these 
scripts.  Kubuntu's System Settings contains a "Grub Editor" that works on 
the old Grub.  Does either KDE or Gnome have such a gui for Grub2?  imo, you 
can make the config settings as complicated as you want, provided you have a 
simple GUI for the user to establish those settings.
