A more descriptive comment on what you mean by "only somewhat"
would be of help to the list in determining just what is not
right with your flash.

It may be the case but flashplugin on Ubuntu does work in
spite of your issues.  See below.

Not to be just contradictory, but I have firefox and several 
other browsers using Ubuntu flashplugin and some with the
latest flashplayer from the Adobe site and flash plays well
on all of them.  I've never used wine or ever plan to. The OP 
should post to the list, using a more appropriate exact subject,
and post details of just what he did to install flash, his OS
version any and all error messages playing flash. I don't mean 
to say that flash doesn't have problems in getting it to work
sometimes, I've had mine too, but if the OP post his problem
with the details needed, someone on the list can help to get it
right.  HTH,
