Installing tar.gz files

There is a package for dvd::rip in the Ubuntu package repository for
9.04.  Unless you have a very good reason to do otherwise, you can
easily install dvd::rip through Add/Remove Applications or another
interface to the package system (Synaptic, apt-get, etc.).
