Why does '~$ Alt+SysRq+p' not dump the current registers?

Hello,

[Ubuntu 9.10] On a virtual console of an IBM Thinkpad T43: '~$ 
Alt+SysRq+p; SysRq : Show Regs' and nothing more. Why does the T43 not 
dump the current registers?
