sharing files between ubuntu computers

    I think you have some problems with networking. Do This: In a 
terminal type:

$sudo ifconfig

and write down the ip address for this computer. Then do the other the 
same way.

    Now in either computer in a terminal type: $ ping (the other 
computers ip number). If this fails you have a serious networking 
problem. If it works then do this:

$ sftp (the other computers ip number)

and you should be able to put anything you want from one to the other 
computer.
