while not subject to 'porting' discussion, this is an important piece of
information.  The PDF files created by default from Adobe Acrobat are a
far cry from any clearly defined ISO standard you might be thinking of.
 If you're using Adobe software to produce PDF documents, don't make the
assumption that you are creating standard compliant interchangeable files.
