I think it the 'old days' that may have been true & perhaps it still is
for the core pdf, but today's pdf's are so filled with 'gee-whiz'
addon's that it's no longer easy to do a simple port. For example, pdfs
now have embedded forms, javascript, browser links, etc., etc. It's sort
of like trying to keep up with converting MS Word documents into OOo ODF
format and still retain as much of the original as you can in the
converted document.
