When I am not using VNC or NX, but ssh -X instead & can't remember the
panel icon command(s), I place the icon in my panel, right-click to
figure out the command, then run the comand the remote 'ssh -X' machine.
(How's that for a run on sentence?).
For instance, I leave remote login off on a machine I service, but I
want to remotely login using VNC so that I can see the desktop. So I
'ssh -X' into the machine, and then run 'vino-preferences' to enable so
that I can VNC (obviously I turn it back off when finished). However,
'vino-preferences' is not the easiest to remember, so I temporarily add
the Remote Desktop icon to my panel, right click to see the command is
'vino-preferences'. Not the most eloquent solution, but works for me.
