If you like scripting and/or console commands, I have two suggestions for
you:
* Install cygwin on Windows. It gives you a bash shell, and all the other
usual GNU tools.
* On modern Windows versions, you can install Windows PowerShell. I think
it is default installed on Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7; it is an
optional free (as in beer) download for the others. PowerShell doesn't
even remotely resemble bash, but it enables you to do anything on Windows
without ever having to see a gui.
In my opinion, I am more productive on Windows those times that I have to
use it because I know Linux, *and* vice versa. 1 + 1 = 3. On my list to
learn: MacOS, BSD, Solaris.
I'm not an average user. I'm getting paid because I'm supposed to know how
to operate a computer. The more I know, the better I get paid.
