plenty, depends on your source material. I mostly use tovid for making
DVDs from avi/mp4 source material, use growisofs to burn the resultant
dvd folder to a dvd.

Plenty here too. Banshee, vlc, mplayer, totem, etc., for videos,
amarok & banshee for audio content. Banshee plays both and also has cd
ripping ability built in, although I find that ripperX works better as
a standalone application for ripping CDs.

Handbrake is supposedly good for ripping DVDs to other files such as
mp4, but I haven't used it much. I tend to go the other way (from
video files to DVD).
