Some people think so. :)

And that's when they're not answering QUESTIONS with insults. :)

Seriously, gang, Oliver is suggesting we do something that MAKES sense,
if only for the survival of this list. It's made to make using Ubuntu a
GOOD experience. If a noob asks a noob question, he should be answered
nicely on the assumption that because he's answered nicely, he will like
the experience and remain a Ubuntu user. If somebody goes out of line
(and we all do - me included - but I have an excuse : I'm French :))
then they should be told nicely. And if they don't understand despite
several nice warnings, something needs to be done.

We've all seen how suggestions of "add person X, or subject Y to your
killfile" get answered. This hints that this isn't a valid suggestion.
What remains is taking the offending poster and "killfiling" them on the
server side. This means blocking the sender e-mail or unsubscribing
them. Whichever, the result is the same. If a person, after multiple
requests and warnings still behaves in a way that doesn't conform to the
code of conduct they AGREED to when subscribing, then they should have
subscribed in the first place and need to be reminded of that... nicely
first... then in an "enforced" way. They should be taken off the list.
They can re-subscribe at will (we all understand that, and they can take
different e-mail addresses). It's just a way to tell them strongly. And
if they subscribe again, and continue, they will be unsubscribed again.
And again if needed...

We all want this list to be the "Ubuntu Users" list. Let's not make it
the "Ubuntu Impolite Users"... Ubuntu is humanity for others. Make sure
ALL others get it. Some times, you need a bit of strength to enforce
manners.

Gilles.
