I think the peanut gallery is inevitable, if they can't comment there
they'll comment on list, which means everyone else has to put up with
it.
And hopefully the moderators will either have a thick enough skin or
skill enough with filters to deal with the peanut gallery.
To me, a big point of the list is to get the 'meta' discussions off this list.
