install Ubuntu 9.04 on iMac

Hi

I want to install ubuntu 9.04 on a iMac using an external harddrive.
I therefore used the LiveCD and started the ubuntu system. After a couple of 
minutes the gnome desktop with nice effects was functioning, sound was OK, video 
OK.

The only thing that was not recognised was the airport. How can I enable the 
airport on the iMac?

Any links to a good documentation for doing this is also welcome (do I use grub 
as bootloader?)
