Installation over pppoe stopped working in 9.04-final

Hello,

I have asked this question over there in ubuntu-installer, but this
list seems to be almost dead (only questions, no answers), so I come
to ubuntu-users for help to track this problem down:


Installing over a PPPoE-line (ADSL) no longer works in Jaunty-final.
It has worked since Feisty (AFAIR) and even worked in jaunty-beta, but
does no longer work in jaunty-final.

To initiate installation over pppoe, I add "modules=ppp-udeb" to the
kernel command line (as described in the installation manual).  This
has worked fine in the previous releases up to (and including)
jaunty-beta.

When I add "priority=low" to kernel command line, the ppp menu is not
even offered in the main menu.

The logfile (relevant snippets attached below) confirms that
anna/choose_modules contains the ppp-udeb package.  But there is no
indication of any failure.  Why is the ppp-udeb package not activated?

Any ideas?
