Wine apps display OFF desktop....

I have a weird problem with WINE apps - when I run them they display
off the desktop - I can see the window silhouette in the Workplace
switcher on one side of the desktop, holding my mouse over the
silhouette shows the name of the application I'm trying to run, the
app shows up in my System monitor, but I can't get to it by any means
I can think of. I had this problem once before with the VLC control
panel, no big problem, I deleted the ~.config/vlc folder, it
initialised fresh, but I can't do that with WINE as far as I can see.
I even went to the extent of uninstalling Wine, deleting my ~.wine
folder, then doing afresh install, nada, same problem.

This wasn't a problem when I was running with Ibex, but only since I
did a rebuild and did a clean install of Jaunty.

I'm running my laptop with attached LCD monitor in 1440x990 mode, ie
wide screen, same as before. I do notice that the window silhouette
issue may point the way - even though my browser window is running
full screen, it's silhouette in the workplace switcher only fills up
the left 2/3 of the window field, and the WINE app silhouettes are in
the remaining 1/3 of the window - does that make sense?

Any help appreciated. A google for WINE + Ubuntu + desktop didn't come
up with anything useful.

Thanks

ED
