OK, some logical observations - I have an internal laptop LCD panel
that is smaller than my external 1440x990 one, and Ubuntu thinks that
I have both open at the same time, with the laptop being on the right
where my Wine and other stuff disappears. However, I don't need 2
monitors ever. If I change the setting in Display to mirror, it only
allows me to set the resolution to the laptop one...

I use the external monitor 98% of the time - is there any way I can
get Ubuntu to ignore the laptop panel when an external one is
attached, but if the external one isn't attached it will display on
the laptop at the correct resolution? The laptop is an HP Pavilion
dv5153eu if that makes a difference, the video card is an ATI Mobility
