I was able to do a completely manual installation of grub on /dev/sda1
(/boot). It took me a couple of hours to figure out that this is (hd0,0)
for the livecd, but it's actually (hd2,0) when I'm booting into grub. I
needed the Super Grub Disk to find that out.
Still struggling with a few other issues. I'll google first and if needed,
I'll start a new thread on the list.
For me this case is closed. No need to file a bug report, because I was
doing something non-standard anyway.
