I found out that all the pretty lights which work with Vista may not
work with Linux. I recently bought a new HP G70-246US. I removed
Vista and installed Ubuntu 8.10. I had a whale of a time getting the
wireless to work until I got rid of Network-Manager and installed
WICD. Now it works wonderfully!

Go to http://wicd.net/download.php and follow the instructions. It
will remove Network-Manager for you as it installs.

I understand that WICD will come with Ubuntu 9.04.
