Help with start up and sound card

Hello, I'm new to Ubuntu and I am having 2 problems:

1) At start up, Ubuntu gets to a screen after which it won't boot and I 
don't know what to do, so I have to restart the computer. There's an 
attachment of the screen I get.

2) I can get my sound card to work.

I have an Hp Pavilion tx2000 Notebook PC and I made a 20 Gb partition 
for Ubuntu.
