Well, we should have kept this in the thread so I copied it back there.

I ask again, please post in text only to the list.

I'm not sure if editing the device.map yourself would make any difference
but I doubt it, I don't believe it's read at boot time. I do know that
grub has a command to generate one though, if you get to a GRUB shell, not
sure if that would change anything.

My other suggestion about device designation in the menu.lst would
probably be worth a try.
