Gnomesword just gives Arabic text

However I don't think it's actually a bug; perhaps you are looking for
the King James version? If so:

sudo apt-get install sword-text-kjv

http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/sword-text-kjv

And then change edit preferences|main.
