evolution no longer issuing alarms?!?

For some time now, not sure how long, Evolution has not been issuing
alarms. It used to pop up a dialogue box some minutes before an
appointment.

I've done several tests, making sure that I have an alarm set, and nope
- nada.

What could have changed? I don't remember adjusting anything at all...
