I had windows 98 on the computer when i bought it... and i dont think i did the partial... from what i understand thats both programs that u can switch from back and forth... ? I have windows xp now on cd that i want to install...

A good format of the hard drive may do the trick.
Of course you do need an operating system to boot into for this purpose. Try a Linux or MS/PC-DOS boot disk.
Naturally others will have better ideas, but that's a quick and dirty method that usually works in a pinch.
