Yes, excellent, but related to Kubuntu/QT.

I think there are python libraries or frameworks for just about
everything - I even found one for interfacing with IMDB.  SQLAlchemy
is great if you care about portability, but personally I use cx_Oracle
directly since the app I maintain for my job is only designed to work
only with Oracle.
