Audio comes back after a suspend

This is the strangest thing.My audio only worked through my headphones
for a while now. No problem, really.

So I suspend the box for the first time in forever and when I bring it
back I have sound without the headphones. Reboot, no sound until I
suspend and bring it back on. Then full sound.

Any ideas where to look for the cause and a fix?
