I first learned Basic on a Heathkit H8 w/Benton Harbor BASIC... worked
pretty well for me. I then went on to 8080 assembler & eventually
graduated to microcode on Varian V70's programing remote telemetry
government satellite systems (emulating CDC's).

Dabbled in Fortran & Cobol, but when Pascal came out I gave up on "high
level" languages... never could figure out how to get the pretty spacing
on the code lines; reminded me of someone that gets a new word processor
and spends all of their time making the text pretty instead of writing
what they really intend to say.
