how to add ttymxc0 console device in arm ubuntu rootfs filesystem

the document "SerialConsoleHowto" is good. but it explains the procedure
to login to ubuntu through console device.

my problem is i am not able to see the filesystem after booting.and also i
am not getting echo prints(prints from rootfs) on the terminal.

what is the reason for that.
