Wireless and Ubuntu

I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed and it is a Netgear USB Wireless device
I plugged it into the USB and Ubuntu found the device and in the Network file browser I have the Windows Network
when I click on I receive a "unable to mount location failed to retrieve share list from server"
Any suggestions as what I can do from here

I recently bought and set up a USB wireless device for an old laptop
my partner uses. I just plugged it in. The device was recognized
and worked right away. I am using 8.10 and WICD on that machine.
