newbie installation question

Hi,

I have a Dell laptop (latitude E6400) which came with
Windows vista.  I downloaded ubuntu desktop 9.0.4
to it, and burned dvd with it.  As I tried to boot from the
DVD, it seems to ignore DVD and goes to disk and
boots vista.

I looked at some web page where showed how the good
DVD should look like and how the bad DVD would look
like.  Mine didn't look like either.  But what I did was to
wait it finished downloading then burned cd with something
called Roxio.

Can somebody please tell me what is going on, what
recourse do I have, etc.
