In all honesty, I feel like you're over-reacting to the comment made.
The guy may have been a bit curt because IRC channels are usually pretty
busy with a lot of people needing help, and much fewer people actually
doing the helping...Though the convo-snip is too short to tell for sure.
Basically, just remember: "If you let things get to you, then they

Did you ever get a solution to this problem?
If not, then...
1. Why are you building a new libxine1?
2. Are you following a tutorial to do so, and if so, which one?
3. The last line looks like there's a conflict between the new
libxine1, and an older install of libxine1-bin. Are you
upgrading libxine1-bin also?
4. If not, did you try temporarily moving the offending file (i.e.
w/ "sudo
mv /usr/share/xine/libxine1/fonts/mono-20.xinefont.gz /usr/share/xine/libxine1/fonts/mono-20.xinefont.gz.backup1")
