There are certainly good reasons for having dual routers...

I have a similar setup (my actual fixed IP's are not used for this example:

DSL Modem (to ISP set to bride mode)
|
|
Cisco BEFVP41 (Set up for 192.168.2.*, WAN - set for static IP's & a
small range of DHCP IP's which are issued from the BEFVP41)
|
====|==> PC1 via wire 192.168.2.10
|   |==> PC2 via wire 192.168.2.11
|
|
Netgear WGR614 (Set up for 192.168.1.*, WAN - 192.168.2.110)
|
|
=====|==> PCx via wireless DHCP
     |==> PC4 via wireless 192.168.1.115 (Port 22 forwarded for ssh, and
samaba Port 139 PC setup for file share.)
Setup on the router is set to only allow connections from PC1.
There's also a couple of hubs, switches, more machines w/fixed IP's and
routers in there as well, but that's the basic/simple config.

When I go from PC1 to PC4 I use:

ssh <username>@192.168.2.10 (using terminal or Nautilus 'Connect to Server)
  connects me to 192.168.1.115 via port 22 (ssh)
smd://192.168.2.110/ (using Nautilus)
  connects me to 192.168.1.115 via port 139 (samba)

Second (Netgear) router in my case is for: 1) isolating wireless from my
wired network except for IP's specifically configured to connect to the
Cisco/Linksys, 2) BEFVP41 has a significantly better firewall, does
hardware encrypted VPN's, provides detailed logs, etc., and 3) the
BEFVP41 is wired only.
