Obviously Oliver (kudos to him) holds a different position. If Ubuntu
relies on using a search engine that is collecting user data under the
hood, I might as well drop Ubuntu: simply select the Debian entry in
my laptop's grub menu and reformat the Ubuntu partition. My other
machines (except the noisy VAXstation running OpenBSD) run Debian
from lenny through sid, all are up to date.
I'm only using Ubuntu because I want to see myself if I can advise
DAUs (german term for $LUSER) to use it.

ps: I go with Res, I can't take ppl seriously that hide behind
accounts where abuse@ is effectively forwarded to /dev/null.
pps: As you might have noticed, the problem is solved w/o refraining
to google.
