does anyone experience hardware overheat in ubuntu

I've noticed the same thing since the first few rounds of upgrades in
Jaunty.I don't use desktop effects, so that isn't it. I do believe it
has something to do with X, though.

Javascript really pegs my processor, too. Didn't used to in Hardy.My
laptop shuts down from heat after a few minutes watching some Flash
videos, also.

Maybe someone can answer this question for both of us and probably a lot
 more people.
