upgrade the BIOS
try to manually specify the HD to the BIOS

Subject: 9.04 can't find second hard drive.
just recently upgraded from SUSE 10.0 to Ubuntu 9.04
everything works fine but no matter how I set things the system can't
find the second hard drive (the old main SUSE drive)
pretty sure it is not even finding it in BIOS which is confusing since
that should be a problem, it is finding a CD drive that is on the same
cable.
have tried unplugging all devices but this hard drive which has a SUSE
operating system and GRUB on it. but it won't even try to boot, in
fact says there is no boot medium.
other than that system works fine, nothing critical on the drive but
some things like forms that would be handy to not have to do over.
if nothting else just find a way to dump the drive onto a removable
hard drive etc, it is less than 150mb of documents and things.
????
Thanks
Bob
