What servers they are running on is irrelevant - the web applications
themselves are not Free Software as the source is usually obfuscated as
Richard Stallman covered in The Javascript
Trap<http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/javascript-trap.html>
.
The applications deny the users the Freedoms 1 ,2 and 3 of the four
fundamental rights of software Freedom (and perhaps 0 as well depending on
your definition of run) - you cannot modify the source easily as it is
obfuscated, you are not permitted to make forks etc. (with Google web
applications anyway) and you cannot run them on your own, private servers.
This is pivotal time for the future of Free Software.
