Where Oh Where did my video go?

Do to my borking a system, I had to re-install 9.04.  I had no problems 
with that.  I added Medibunu to the repositories and grabbed the codecs 
recommended at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu.

My problem is that I can't play shows from Hulu or Fancast.  You tube 
does work.  I used Hulu extensively before I had to re-build; Fancast not 
so much.  

Bottom line is that these sites used to work; now they don't.

As you have in the past, can anyone rescue me?
