Newbie, Nvidia drivers issue

>From your X log, it looks as if your xorg.conf isn't configured to load
the Nvidia X driver.

First, double check you have the kernel driver installed by typing in a
terminal:

lsmod | grep nvidia

You should see something like:

nvidia               8114232  38 

If not, the kernel driver is not installed.
If the kernel driver is installed, try running:

sudo nvidia-xconfig

to update your xorg.conf then logout and log back in to restart X, if
all goes well you should see an Nvidia splash screen as the X driver is
started.
