printing via serial to usb cable

After you put new ink in it, did you reset the printer? Also note that
there is a Nov 2008 driver available for that printer:

I doubt that will make a difference if it was working before you changed
the ink, but given that you've now messed with all of your cups settings
etc., it might be worth a look.
