home dir problem

Hello,

Since yesterday I am experiencing problems with my home dir.
When I open a (any) file manager, nothing is visible in the home dir, 
any other dir is OK. Also doing a 'ls' in a terminal makes the terminal 
inaccessible and it needs to be killed. When saving a file from firefox, 
if I browse starting from home dir, than firefox hangs, and so on.

In any other dir, I do _not_ have similar problems.

Any ideas?
