Dear Jack and everybody

Thx. for your feedback. With respect to 'acpi=off', one question remains.

In the menu.lst file at my laptop, I found a quit similar kernel line,
which ended like this: "ro quiet splash". For the time being, I have
simply 'ro acpi=off' next to 'ro quiet splash'. Is this the right
decision? Or do I need to delete 'ro quiet splash'? Or is there some
other detail I need to do differently?

Respectfully yours,

Bas.
