Can't get resolution higher than 640x480 after playing Frets on Fire

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using Ubuntu 8.10.

Running xfix also does not seem to fix the problem, xfix disables the
nvidia driver and then I'm still only able to choose resolutions up to
800x600.
