Can't get resolution higher than 640x480 after playing Frets on Fire

After a game of Frets on Fire (fullscreen in 640x480), I am not able
to reset the resolution back to the original resolution. When I go to
System > Preferences > Screen Resolution, I can only choose 640x480
and 320x240. Restarting X and rebooting didn't fix the problem.

I am using the nvidia-glx-173 driver, but reconfiguring or
reinstalling that driver doesn't seem to fix the problem.

When I started using Linux I just changed my xorg.conf for configuring
the screen resolutions. But since that is rather empty, I have no idea
where to add extra screen resolutions.

Some help would really be appreciated.
