"Supposedly reputable"? That covers a lot of ground. Some people would
describe MS as "supposedly reputable" but their track record on a
number of issues, including security is so lacking, I wouldn't trust
them with anything important. And thats not because of anything thats
happened "lately", its because of many years of laxness, poor
performance and suspect behavior. Whether deliberately producing
flawed products, or by accident, is not even an issue. Its just that
there is a history there that would lead anyone knowledgeable who
looks at the relevant issues critically to conclude they shouldn't be
trusted. At least not in matters of importance. As always ... IMHO!
