Insurmountable Problem

If you edit your source.list in /etc/apt, you should be able to  
uncomment the lines for adding the Ubuntu CD to the repository list.   
Once added, make sure to update apt-get and then you should be able to  
install the package.

You should be able to do everything from the command line:

#sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
#sudo apt-get update
#sudo apt-get install network-manager
