virtualbox wont show USB ports in the guest OS

I looked at your thread on the virtualbox list & that indicates that the
problem is with a usb mounted external hard drive is that correct? Also,
do you have issues with any other usb devices (mouse, usb stick etc) or
only the usb hard drive?
