Surely, e.g. think of Wake On LAN, dunno if it has been implemented.
In my understanding OP wants to keep a machine from going asleep while
logged in via ssh.  Let machine owner configure the box accordingly;
if he doesn't agree, OP is bound to accept this, full-stop.
