flash applets stop working after loading another page

I don't know if it works, but have you tried downloading through apt
the free versions of flash: gnash [for GNOME] or klash [for KDE]?
They're in the Ubuntu repos; at least I've got them after making sure
the canonical partners and the Medibuntu repos are in
my /etc/apt/sources.list
