The junk mail controls in Thuderbird uses Bayesian filtering. At
first it isn't the best, but with proper training, it gets really good
within a week or so. That, coupled with the setting that
trusts/understands spamassassin headers, has helped me to get down to
0 spam in my Inbox and only the very rare (about 1 every month or two)
false positive in the Junk folder. I would also mention that the spam
controls/filters on the mail server itself can and do a lot more work
than Thunderbird, but when you don't have control over your mail
server and are still getting spam, Thunderbird's filter helps a lot.
Here is a link to more info about Thunderbird junk mail controls in
case anyone is interested.
