I understand from another reply that it's not uncommon. I agree that 
it's a possible cause, I just maintain that it shouldn't be necessary. 
For the record, I don't have any enabled.

ATI Radeon RV250. I'm not thrilled about ATI but I got a good deal on 
the laptop.
