Firefox was updated recently, and since then (approximately, I'm not
100% sure) several sites that serve flash files don't work for me any
more

These sites were working 100% fine up until that update. An example site
would be www.ebaumsworld.com. The site shows a blank space where the
video would be, and does not complain about missing plugins or anything.

If I download one of the files I can play it fine in (say) Movie Player.

I have reinstalled flashplugin-nonfree. This is firefox 3.0.13, as in
the Canonical repositories, but the firefox-3.5 package has the
identical problem.

I am mystified. Any ideas? Google reveals some similar problems, but no
exact match. This is on Jaunty amd64.

Regards, K.

PS: YouTube videos continue to play just fine; not sure if those are
flash...?

What does "sudo update-alternatives --all" show for all the flashplugin/player show for default settings.  This topic was covered this month I think.  I have Jaunty amd64 also and did
have to run update alternatives for all the flash entries to get embedded flash videos working right.
